I feel a little funny saying it, but I truly have a love for my electric skillet. And after I tell you why, you'll want one of your own to love. I purchased a big, top-quality skillet with a curved see-through lid so I could watch my food cook and not release any heat or steam. The non-stick surface, furthermore, makes for quick, simple cleanup.

Here are seven of my favorite things about the electric skillet.
1. I'm able to cook "smelly" dishes like fish and sauerkraut outdoors with an electric skillet. Being able to cook outside helps my home not smell and we can continue to enjoy odor producing foods.
2. Holiday times, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, are ideal for the electric skillet because it expands the kitchen space when a large meal is being cooked. The electric skilled works anywhere there is an outlet and can hold a lot of food without having to fight for counter space.
3. My electric skillet saves me money; I can bake small roasts in it instead of having to use an oven. An even temperature is kept accurate by the temperature control, and because the lid hold in the juices, your assured of a perfectly brown and moist roast every time.
4. My electric skillet is both large and attractive, which allows me to cook and serve in it. It looks nice sitting on the serving table, and you won't have to spend time cleaning additional serving platters.
5. The electric skillet has a "Warm" setting that maintains the perfect temperature after it's cooked and waiting to be eaten.
6. The fried chicken is incredible. And you thought the only people still making fried chicken were the Colonel and his crew! Turn it up to 350 degrees and let a half inch depth of oil get hot prior to putting in your batter-soaked chicken parts. You can make fried chicken that will leave you licking your fingers, without having to go out for a bucket.
7. My top reason is that I can make a pineapple upside-down cake in my electric skillet and all I have to do is turn it over onto a plate; it slides out quickly thanks to the nonstick surface. This is an amazing dish, and I've been asked many times to share it for pot-luck get-togethers.
So there they are: the top seven reasons why I love my electric skillet. If you didn't have one before this, you probably want one now.
