Solar panels are devices that absorb the energy from sunlight and convert it into electricity. A solar panel is a collection of small photovoltaic cells made of a semiconductor like silicon. When sunlight falls on these cells it makes the electrons move generating electricity.

Ecological imbalance is causing a number of problems for the existence of mankind, and if something is not done soon, more severe problems are in the pipeline. Global warming is one of the main concerns for environmentalists today. The cause of global warming is the depletion of the ozone layer which is responsible for stopping the harmful UV rays from entering the atmosphere. All this is happening due to one major problem – Pollution. Wastes from thermal power plants, industrial pollutants, and automobile emissions, all play their role in contributing to the level of pollution. By switching to solar devices such as solar panels and solar water heaters, not only we will be able to significantly reduce the pollution level, but also save a substantial amount of money. The fundamental of both these devices is quite similar. Both these devices convert energy from sun’s light and transform it into other types of energy which can be used for various purposes.

Another very useful solar device is solar water heater. As the name suggests, it is used for heating water using sun’s energy. Solar water heaters are fitted with a number of mirrors that concentrate the light from the sun at one point making it attain extremely high temperature. This fundamental is used to heat water inside the container.
Switching to solar devices and other renewable sources of energy is the last hope we have got to save our planet. And with assured financial savings as well, there cannot be any reason not to go solar.
