Bethany Joy Galeotti has grown as an actress, mostly because of her role on One Tree Hill, Haley James Scott. From the beginning of the drama series, she was given the chance to play the various levels of her character, and how she grew over the years. Now, One Tree Hill returns with its fifth season, which looks at the characters five years into the future, and this serves as another character evolution for Galleoti"s Haley. The CW Source recently talked to the 26-year-old actress about how she has been dealing with her character developments, and how it is working with a revamped show.
Galleoti confessed that she was "really excited" to play a mother onscreen. She admits to having motherly instincts with kids, and enjoys being around children. In fact, she is blessed with friends who have kids of their own, and this has helped her get into character, as it exposed her to how it is being a mother to babies and toddlers. Galleoti added, "I got to sit and just chat with [my friends] and I"ve been around them so long to be able to observe their behavior with their kids. A lot of the things that don"t come naturally to me I was able to pick up on and use."
Moreover, Galleoti is dealing with Haley"s Type A personality, which means that Haley likes to have everything under control. However, Galleoti isn"t anything like Haley, so it gets challenging playing her at times.
"I"m not a Type A personality, but Haley [has to] have everything under control, because if she doesn"t have everything under control everything"s going to fall apart," Galleoti said. "She can"t be emotional about anything. She can"t get too happy, she can"t get too sad. Everything has to be really controlled."
Portraying a developed character isn"t the only thing Bethany Joy Galleoti is dealing with right now, as she also gets to interact with the newbies on the set. For one, there"s Kevin Federline. Of the infamous ex-Mr. Britney Spears, Galleoti said, "I can"t say enough nice things about this guy. Very professional, and really fun and funny and humble. Just a great guy."
