Affirmations are a form of brainwashing. Brainwashing is usually perceived in a negative way by a lot of people. But brain washing is actually a good thing if it is used as a tool to change your way of thinking towards the things you do want in life.

Everyone is born into this world with a clear mind as a baby. We are taught different belief systems as we grow up. We pick up things such as fears, prejudices, and limitations along the way. A great deal of those beliefs are negative and they cause us to limit our actions in our every day lives.

This is where affirmations come in. Through affirmations, you are able to reprogram your mind and replace those negative thoughts and beliefs with ones that are in line with what you want out of life. You see, it"s not just a matter of succeeding in life. It"s about having the mindset to succeed. And that is not the easiest nor does it come over night. Without the belief in yourself that you"re able to succeed, you most likely will not be able to succeed.

Affirmations are a form of positive brainwashing. They "wash" your brain of those limiting beliefs that have gotten in your way. They are positive self talk statements. But most people say affirmations for a few days or a few weeks and expect dramatic changes. Think about it, those negative beliefs have been inside you for many years. It"s unreasonable to expect affirmations to change your life over a period of a few days or a few weeks.

Affirmations can help you, if you stay consistent with them. In addition, you want to take actions that are in line with those affirmations. Action combined with affirmations create a strong magnet for those things to come in your life that you want. There"s something unique about the mind. And that is the more you tell yourself something, the easier it gets to belief. The key to successful affirmations is consistency and repetition.

Stay consistent with your affirmations. Another thing that"s helped a lot of people make the most out of affirmations is visualizations. When you say a phrase or a word to affirm a positive belief it only carries so much power, but when you have an actual film or image in your mind to go along with it, then it makes it a little more real to you. If you power pack that with an emotion of excitement, joy, fun, happiness or laughter, then all of a sudden your mind takes it as real. It takes it as already happened. And this is the key to creating your own reality.

So can affirmations work? Yes, they do work, when combined with other elements that we"ve spoken of here. Like everything else in this world, there isn"t just one magic pill that does it all for you. In everything you do in life, there is a combination of various factors you have to use to meet success.
