Things get undeniable more interesting for reality show fans when one of the contestants eventually caught up with the law. As weird as it may sound, people delight in hearing about the slightest news of a brush up with the law by some reality star. Looking back, American Idol"s Jessica Sierra, Survivor"s Richard Hatch and Laguna Beach "s Jason Wahler all have something in common--yes, they"ve crossed a few lines and ended up talking to the police. Another reality show and contestant to add to that list is America "s Next Top Model and season 1 contestant, Elyse Sewell, who was with her boyfriend, Martin Crandall of the rock band The Shins, when she found herself in trouble with the law.

Elyse Sewell expressed through her blog on LiveJournal.com that she and her boyfriend were in Sacramento when they had an argument which eventually turned violent. In attempt to save herself from inflicting any more physical injury, she fled from the hotel room. However, things got more complicated afterwards.

"Because he had a bite mark, inflicted in self-defense, on his arm, Marty told the police to PRESS CHARGES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST ME. Now I am a felon," Sewell wrote, as she was required to spend the night in jail, followed by a court trial wherein she faced the charges against her.

Her blog entry chronicling the details of the argument and the arrest was unpublished on the Internet, but she wrote a new entry saying, "The D.A. has rejected the case against me. I am free. I wish the same outcome for Marty and have no intention of pursuing any further legal action. I would not wish entanglement in the widening gyre of the American legal system upon my worst enemy."

Moreover, Sewell admitted that it was not her intention to make this public.

"It was incredibly naive of me not to realize that my blog entry about this incident would become tabloid fodder. That was not my intention," she said. "I consider the small circle of people who frequent this LJ to be a support group; the much larger world of tabloid readers is certainly not. I will never speak of this again, nor malign Marty in this space. And tomorrow this"ll be fishwrap."
