» Fundamental Abortionists?

I have several acquaintences that pour their lives into the abortion battle. I went before a judge in 1992 for disturbing the peace at an abortion clinic, but was let off, along with 54 other people fcing the same crazy trumped up charge. Praying in front of Planned Parenthood was somehow illegal on that summer day. So, before I get too far into this commentary, let me make sure you understand that I am against abortion.

Let me also say that the Bible is a sacred text for me as a member of the Christian community; however, I do not accept the notion that the Bible is inerrant and infallible. Seems as though the Protestant reformers merely traded in an infallible Pope for an infallible text. Neither do I interpret ALL of the Bible literally. Much of the Bible is metaphorical and allegorical, etc.

Here"s what I simply cannot grasp.

How can one be against abortion and say that God is love and to kill an innocent unborn child is killing a creation of God, and then turn around any believe so many of the Old Testament stories that are attributed to God? God doesn"t commit such acts, nor tell anyone else to do such. How does one do that with any degree of spiritual integrity? How!

When you look at Joshua, chapter ten as an example, God tells Joshua to kill ALL the men, women, children, and babies. God"s a baby killer? And there are other stories attributed to God (we do the meanest things in the name of God you know) where He"s apparently into genocide.

Who can follow that kind of a God, let alone love and be intimate with such! I don"t live in any fear of God. I am in awe of Him of course- and a lot more!

Abortion today is more like GRACE as compared to the mass murders of innocent children and babies according to those who interpret the Bible literally. I"ve heard the many weak justifications for such acts and none of them hold any water or truth. The God that Jesus came to tell us about is nothing like the Old Testament God that the fundamental literalists would have us believe is God.

No wonder Marcion had such difficulty with what he perceived as "two Gods".

There is but ONE and it"s the ONE that Jesus told us about and obeyed.
