You"ve seen dozens of movies about this theme I"m sure. We have the criminal in a padded room and first a cop comes in who is being nice, trying to extract a confession. It doesn"t work. So, he leaves the room and in comes anotehr cop who is loud, rude, threatening, and everything the first cop wasn"t. If he can"t get the information or confession, he leaves the room and in comes the good cop, hoping to get a response to a sweet and kind questioning.
We"re seeing something akin to this approach in the political landscape except it"s not two people doing the acting but one- Hillary Clinton!
Last week in the Austin debate Hillary was nice, sweet, open, loving, and concilatory (except for maybe the zerox commen). That nice approach came off looking like she was bowing out and resigning to defeat. In other words that nice approach didn"t work! So whatever one might have thought of Hillary"s nice side last Tuesday, will be entirely different this Tuesday- and already is!
It really only took about two days for Hillary to shift gears and go after Obama with an angry demeanor.
For those that thought she was going away, think again! She"ll come out with guns blazing in this Tuesday"s debate and if she can just hold on a little while longer, maybe she can throw things into a Democratic convention battle.
Sen. Hillary Clinton ratcheted up her attacks on Sen. Barack Obama today, comparing his campaign tactics to those of George W. Bush and urging Ohioans to see past his momentum. "Enough with the speeches and the big rallies and then using tactics that are right out of Karl Rove"s playbook," Mrs. Clinton told reporters at a press conference today.
And she"s now armed with a $10,000,000.00 new 527 as well!
Can she present an immovable force that can somehow break up this Obama tsunami? Nothing has worked so far and the nice guy scenario sure didn"t win her any points, so let"s see if the bad cop appraoch can work. What"s she got to lose- that hasn"t already been lost?
