Is your site Ready to go live?
So if your like me you have spent hours trying to come up with that great new website. So You get a domain, buy some hosting and get to work. You spend hours on design, coding, and layouts. So you are ready to set it free on the INTERNET. But is it really ready?
Ask your self if these areas of a site are perfect:
Navigation:
Do you have any broken links? What about internal links? If you have a broken link this can cause a loss in a new member. That new member may have posted 3,000 threads over the next 5 years, and you lost him or her because you did not check your links.
Do you have a great navigation panel that is easy to follow and user friendly? Will guests get lost on how to register and login?
Take these considerations into play when going over your navigation one last time.
Spelling
Do you spell your site correctly? Although you are probably laughing, this does occur and often. Spelling can really turn off a member and guest if done incorrectly. So take the time to be patient and use spell check if needed.
Accessibility
Did you build in Fixed or Fluid widths? Maybe Elastic or Hybrid? Which ever way you designed your site, why not a look at it in a multitude or browsers. Take a look at it is Internet Explorer, Firefox and all other popular web browsers. Try and see what your visitors are going to see. If it all checks out, great. If not fix it.
Are you ready?
If these areas all check out, you should be ok for your first trial run. You might indeed be good for quite some time. But if your like others, you will be adding, changing, or editing stuff all of the time.
Good luck to you and your web future.
