The pleasure beyond explanation.
Dalip Singh Wasan, Advocate.
I was married and he too had got a wife and two children. We both had been in one establishment and we remained in that establishment for about twenty years. We were so close that we had been visiting houses of each other and even we had been attending important ceremonies in our houses. His wife had come close to me and my husband was not objecting visits of Mr. Avinash to my house.
Mr. Avinash retired in the year 2004 and I retired in the year 2006. We both were residing at different stations and we could not meet each other for two three years. One day my son desired some work to be done at the station where Mr. Avinash was residing and he requested me to approach Mr. Avinash. My husband also asked me to contact him because he was not in a mood to travel to that station. On their requests, I contacted Mr. Avinash on phone. He heard my voice and immediately recognized me and said, " Oh God you are great. You gave me an occasion to listen to this sweet voice which has sweetened all my body and my soul. I had been longing for this voice for the last so many years. God is great who listened to my prayers and directed you to contact me on phone. I shall be highly obliged and shall be thankful to God if you give me some work to do for you and for your family." For two minutes, he did not allow me to explain for what purpose I had phoned him. Then he gave me a chance to say something to him and he replied that the work shall be done without any loss of time and necessary information shall be sent to me.
I explained all these things to my son and to my husband and both were happy to have such a response from my side. We had been talking about him for sometime and then we disbursed.
Since that date Mr. Avinash came to my mind and he started visiting time and again in my mind. I started recalling all the occasions on which he had been helping me, all the occasions when he had been doing my work, all the occasions on which he escorted me when we were to attend a departmental meeting at another station. He had been very close to me and at no occasion he crossed the limits prescribed and though I never called him as my brother, but he was more than a brother and more clean and sacred than all the relations who were close to me.
I started to visit Avinash, but it had become difficult for me to create an occasion for his visit. But in a few days I found him at the door of my house. He had done that work and had come personally with all the papers which he had collected from that office and told me that he wanted to come and has come with all the papers fearing that through post some more time shall be wasted and therefore, he himself had come to our house. We entertained him and in the evening he left our house. I was all alone in my house and therefore, I could talk to him without any fear. But our meeting had been the same as we had in the office and when he was leaving my house, he took me in his arms and had a kiss on my forehead. He left the house and he left a memory in my heart which is still alive. He never visited our house, but we had been having talks on phone. As and when I listened to his talks, a strange type of feeling started coming in my mind and in my heart and when I asked from him, he too said that he is feeling something strange in his mind and in his heart. We could never explain these feelings to each other, but once I explained these strange feelings to a friend of mine who said, " This is love. It is nothing less than love. It is nothing beyond love. You had been in one office for two decades. You were so close to each other. There had been hurdles of marriage and children and in spite of all these hurdles, the love could not stop and it crosses all the limits. You are lucky that you could find a person who is in love with you and you are in love with him. It is better to love and lost than never loved at all." And these words of my friend are still in my mind and I am living a happy life happier than that which I had been living before my telephone call to him.
