The newest season of Survivor brings together 10 former contestants and 10 die-hard fans of the show. The two tribes are pitted against each other as they struggle to win challenges while adjusting to their way of living on the island of Micronesia . The Fans vs. Favorites series gives old contestants a second chance at winning the prize at stake. While the fans also gets same opportunity to fight for the same rewards, they are also given the chance to see in person their sought after survivors.
On the show"s premiere, Jeff Probst started off by immediately giving instructions to both groups. They must swim to another island where they would find boats and maps to their respective camps. The Fans arrive at their camp, named it Ariai, and start building their shelter. Kathy made some not-so-good comments as the group worked and this resulted in an uncomfortable situation with some of the Fans. The shelter that the Fans built was not that strong too, and wasn"t able to shield them from the rainstorm that visited the place.
At the other camp, the Favorites called their tribe the Malakal. With all of the members helping out, they managed to create a better shelter. Parvati and James seemed to be flirting with each other while Amanda and Ozzy also seemed to be too close for comfort.
For the first Immunity Challenge, each group had to assemble a cart with four wheels. The carts had to go through a series of obstacles before being disassembled again. The parts were then used to make a turnstile and the turnstiles were used to release the tribe"s flags. The Fans won in this challenge and sent the Favorites to the Tribal Council. While each favorite search for reasons on why they should be retained, Johnny Fairplay suddenly did the unthinkable. He asked everyone to vote him out because he misses his pregnant girlfriend. The group complied and Fairplay became the first person to say goodbye on the show"s current season.
