If you are searching for happiness and think it will bring pleasure or satisfaction be rest assured it comes down to choice. You can choose today whether you are going to be happy or sad, depressed or mad, you name it. Rarely will something or someone bring us complete fulfillment. It is completely up to us to create happiness.
If you think it is money alone that will bring happiness, you may be discouraged if you acquire the money to then realise that does not satisfy you. It is a common trait that when we come into money a lottery winners share the sediment when they have won then twelve months later they lose it all. Perhaps it brings short term satisfaction, though many will say it was the worse thing that ever happened.
Other may be dissatisfied in their relationships, though that also takes two people to make it work. So what are you prepared to do improve your happiness? You can go through life blaming others and external circumstances for your misfortunes, though know that the buck stops with you. You may say I was born into a meager existence and I did not create the life I am experiencing. And it is quite possible that external influences have created an unpleasant situation beyond your control.
However you can decide to change it and either seek help or you can dwell in the misery. For people that have suffered cancer and go into remission, often say many years later that contracting cancer was the best thing that ever happened. Why, because they changed their outlook on life, and learnt to appreciate it, and those that are important in their life.
Go and speak to an elder person that has little time to live and ask them what their greatest regret in life was. Most will tell you that they wish they had of taken more risks, tempted new experiences, spent more time with their kids, or expressed more love to their family and friends. Rarely many will say I should have spent more time at the office, and it was great having all this money, though I could not enjoy it because of my poor health. Or I wasted my life by not learning something or aspiring for more.
Amazingly the people that seem to reach the peek in their fields or have mastered something that we resonate with have quite often experienced great adversity and loss before they achieved the peek of their profession. Napoleon Hill who wrote the book Think and Grow Rich said that with every adversity there is a seed of equivalent or greater benefit. So think back in the past whenever something was being mean to you, who was being nice?
So despite whatever immense misfortune that has occurred think and most importantly take action to change it. As the saying goes Rome was not built in a day, but by one block at a time. Therefore decide today I am going to improve my life, and take baby steps to instigate the change. So if you have poor health what can you do improve, eat better, go for a walk, you subconsciously will know what you have to do.
When it comes to money be patient in your wealth creation make a list of your desired goals. It is a common goal achievement principle if we do not set our standards to high at first we will not become despondent, so create a bit of a stretch though as the saying goes how do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. So set smaller more achievable goals. It might be saving $1000 in your first year, you may say that hardly seems worthwhile? Well guess what it is more than you had a year earlier.
When you start to acquire savings, put the money to work for in a low risk return, and as you build upon it expand your risk to higher returns. For instance you"re not going to save all that money and then put in on black at the casino; even putting it into the stock market would be considered high risk. So save then put you money in a managed fund, and then perhaps look at a small property investment then shares. Note everybody"s circumstances will be different though put simply do not blow it. Get the money working for you, not you working for the money?
When it comes to creating happiness by choice, investigate and explore what will bring you alive. When you know you have a choice the options start to open up to you. For instance if you are in a low paying job and desire to attract more income, start by learning something new that interests you. If you dedicated one hour a day to studying, researching or learning it is the same as doing nine weeks a year of fulltime 40 hour work. Within three years you could be an expert in the field of your choice.
Libraries and the internet have unlimited information in any topic known to mankind, so it does not take a college degree to learn and acquire a new skill or have the knowledge to apply to a new role. You may have an excuse though I will have a solution. If you decide to find your thing you are more inclined to embrace it. In obtaining wisdom through education can we then become empowered to change?
If you have a choice today to happy or sad, nobody has that freedom of choice in your mind but you. So are you going to choose to be happy?
