It the launch of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG global CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Mr. Ola Kaellenius had said, “Today India joins the elite ranks of the first few RHD markets globally to launch this mean machine. Given the strong demand for this car, I assure you that it is really a very strong and positive statement and shows the esteem that India as a market holds for us.”
This Rs 2 crore (approximately) beauty is powered by a modified AMG 6.3-litre V8 and is equipped with an AMG speed shift DCT 7-speed sports transmission. It has an AMG speed-sensitive sports steering along with a light yet rigid aluminium space frame. The SLS AMG has a very sports car like built on the outside and on the inside it feels more like the cockpit of a jet. The top speed of 312 kmph is also nothing short of a jet on the roads. The SLS AMGs sold in India are going to be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) from its parent company’s plant in Affalterbach, Germany. According to Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, “The SLS AMG represents the true spirit of our brand- 'The Best or Nothing'! It embodies passion, performance, design, technology and engineering excellence- values that make us one of the most exciting brands in the world, today.”
The SLS AMG is one of the safest cars on the Formula 1 circuit and it boasts of a solid body structure, composite braking system, 3-stage ESP et al. The car provides you quality, safety, reliability and exclusiveness, which is expected of any Mercedes.
Mercedes-AMG GmbH does not sound familiar to several people but it is actually a subsidiary of the Mercedes- Benz car company, which specialises in high-performance luxury cars. It is commonly known as AMG. The SLS AMG is the first independently developed vehicle by AMG in over 40 years. But the car has won hearts world over with its intelligent lightweight construction and superior handling dynamics.
