There is a lot of information available out there on the internet and in books related to muscle building. There are countless websites and magazines proclaiming to give you the secret behind building massive muscles. Unfortunately, most of the information is not correct. A lot of people become victim of some famous bodybuilding myths. This article will give you some very useful information regarding the top 3 bodybuilding myths so that you can avoid them.

Using the “Pro” Routine.

All the bodybuilding magazines are full of workout routines used by the professional bodybuilders and the people who buy these magazines try to follow the pro routines to gain muscle mass. This approach is completely wrong because those workout routines are for professionals, not for amateurs or beginners. It takes years of intense training and “special” diet to become a professional bodybuilder and an average Joe following a pro workout routine will definitely end up over training which can also lead to injuries. It is better that you start out slow and allow your body to recover from training.

Weight Training Makes Women Grow Muscles Like Men.

One of the biggest bodybuilding myths is that lifting weights can make women build muscles like men. Generally speaking, women can never grow muscles like men because muscle building requires much more than just lifting weights. The hormone (testosterone) responsible for muscle growth is only available in small amount in a woman's body. The female professional bodybuilders use some “extra” help to get that big so it is OK for the ladies to train with weights. So bodybuilding for women is completely safe.

Weight Training Reduces Flexibility.

There is a general perception that lifting weights can reduce your flexibility. This myth dates back to 1960s when athletes believed that lifting weights can reduce their range of motion. In reality, lifting weights can do the opposite if done with proper form. All the professional athletes have incorporated weight training in their routines to get better results and as we all know that today's athletes are much better than yesteryear’s athletes. Weight training strengthens our muscles and ligaments which allow better flexibility.
