It would appear from the patterns that the largest savings can be had when it is nearing closing time. The rule is, the later it gets in the day, the larger the reductions are. Supermarkets typically start at 25 percent off then go from there.

Wine is also almost always on sale. Be thorough when shopping for these items as quality may be compromised as a consequence of the price reduction.
