Acupuncture is an old traditional Chinese practice that’s most often used to relieve chronic pain by inserting needles into a variety of pressure points on the head and body to balance the flow of energy (qi) in the body. Many people who are troubled by their infertility problems have most likely already tried numerous other alternative techniques, so there is mainly nothing else to lose. Possible causes have often been found in men, for example, in sufficient mobility and vitality of spermatozoa or low serum levels of luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone and testosterone. Distinct causes are far less often found in women, and in many cases, acupuncture treatment can be carried out successfully even if infertility seems to result from hormonal imbalance.

Acupuncture boosts fertility as it helps to invigorate the flow of blood and energy to the lower abdominal area. For women, it will assist in regulating the menstrual cycle, boost ovulation, and improve fertility. There’s published evidence to show that acupuncture is one of the best infertility solutions, according to a study, 45 infertile women suffering from menstrual irregularity and infertility were treated with auricular acupuncture. Results were compared to those of 45 women who received hormone treatment. Both groups were matched for age, duration of infertility, body mass index, previous pregnancies, menstrual cycle, and the presence of any blockages in the fallopian tubes.

Women treated with acupuncture had 22 pregnancies, whereas women treated with hormones had 20 pregnancies. It was also noted that side effects were observed only during hormone treatment.

Acupuncture for infertility is generally to treat patients by either ear or body acupuncture. Only in rare and difficult cases of infertility, the acupuncturists combine both ear and body treatment. As primary therapeutic access in cases of infertility, ear acupuncture has a range of points to choose from. All of them are selected according to individual parameters and should be needed only if they’re sensitive. Depending on sensitivity, two or three points per ear are selected and needled alternatively with other points found to be similarly sensitive. Initially, a series of 10 treatments is carried out daily or every second day, if possible.

If you’re serious about infertility acupuncture, seek help of a well experienced naturopathic doctor and discover the benefits.
