I would prefer to scrap my car rather than dispose of it in any other way, for the following reasons.
With the right junk yard or car scrapping company, up to 98% of your vehicle can be recycled when you sell scrap car to them, according to the recycling system they use. Everything from the car battery to the car keys are processed and reused. This saves land from contamination and lead poisoning.
The car battery, for example, contains lots of lead acids that need to be neutralized, and the plastic parts are separated and refurbished. A car also has plenty of glass from the windshield, mirrors and car bulbs, which need to be properly disposed of. If the windshield is intact, it can be reused on a similar type of car, but if not, it can be smoldered and used as new glass for other purposes, not just in vehicle assembly.
Your vehicle also uses lots of fluids, like coolants, fuel and oils, which can also contaminate land and water sources, and pose a threat to humans, plants and animals. These vehicle fluids contain many other chemical components, which need to be filtered into liquids that can be reused or put away safely. Lubricating oils for the engine also need to be recycled properly.
There are lots of plastic parts in a car, like in the seats, dashboard and many other parts. The main component is PVC, which is requires to be recycled. The best way of safely disposing of plastic parts is by melting them to form fresh plastics that can be used for many other purposes. The same goes for the metal parts of the car, which are about 70% or more in any given vehicle. Metals can be smelted, purified and reused in many other industries as well.
For these purposes, it is best to recycle your old car by selling it to a junk yard or scrap car company to do your part in conserving the environment.
