False Advertising Can Make You Safer

Not everyone can afford a home security system, at least not at first. Fortunately, there is a way to make yourself more secure even if you don’t have the funds to install a full system right away. The key here is false advertising. You need to make your property look like it has an alarm system installed even if it doesn’t.
Believe it or not, you don’t have to spend a fortune on a home security system for you to be safer in your house. You have probably heard the commercials that say you need to install the best home security system on the market or you are not protecting your family as well as you should be. Of course, installing a home security system is a great way to make your home and family more secure. It offers peace of mind in knowing that a third-party monitoring company is watching your home even when you can’t. It also provides a significant deterrent to would-be burglars who would rather take their chances with a house that does not have a security system installed than with one that does.

However, not everyone can afford a home security system, at least not at first. Fortunately, there is a way to make yourself more secure even if you don’t have the funds to install a full system right away. The key here is false advertising. You need to make your property look like it has an alarm system installed even if it doesn’t.

The best way to do this is to post signs around your property indicating that you have a security system in your home. There are many different kinds of signs available, but all of them serve the same purpose. They “tell” would-be burglars that they are at risk of getting caught if they try to break into your house. Most burglars are not going to try to verify whether the signs are real or not. They don’t have the time to do that. Their goal is to get into and out of the house as quickly as possible and if they think they are going to have to contend with an alarm system, they are going to move on.

Make sure your signs are visible at all times of the day or night so that no matter when a potential criminal is in your neighborhood, he can see that your house is one to avoid. If you have to install exterior lighting to ensure that your signs can be seen in the dark, do it. Exterior lighting is an important feature in any home security system anyway, so you really have nothing to lose by installing it.

Remember that one of the best ways to prevent a burglary is to keep a burglar from trying to get into your house in the first place. Advertising that you have a home security system installed – even if you don’t—is an excellent way to do this.
