There were variations in the styles of clothing of different countries. In the times of renaissance, costumes symbolized social status and glamour. Medieval dressing for women comprises of kirtle, corset, dress, head dress and bodice. By putting together these pieces in diverse ways gets you the costumes of royal princess, peasant or an affluent lady. Clothing in renaissance period was very fashionable and unique and is even quite popular today. Wench used to wear light shades like browns and grays while royal ladies used to wear brighter shades like reds, orange and purples. Men clothing was also based on the social standing. The expensive the fabric, the more affluent the person was. The medieval dress of men comprises of vests, doublets, stockings, cloaks and breeches. The fitting of the medieval shirts also symbolized the status in terms of wealth. Poor men’s clothes are tunics that reach to knees and are fasten with the help of the belt while on the other hand for royal look you can wear trousers with lengthy tunics.

Men used to wear coats that were enclosed with cloaks and made then striking with the accessories like broaches. Men’s shoes were of made up of the same material as that of women. Medieval dressing is not complete without hats as it adds to the royal look. The men’s shoes are similar to that of women. The medieval attires for both men and women had various layers. This was done deliberately because people used to stay in castles and also outdoors most of the times.
