A Graduate Education School offers advanced academic degrees to practicing teachers, new graduates and people interested in switching to a teaching career.

For example, one of the top Christian colleges of the nation and the only nondenominational college in New England offers students the following graduate education degrees and programs:
• Licensure
Students interested in teaching in Massachusetts or any of the 46 member states and territories of the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) enroll in the Graduate Education School's licensure-only program. Graduates of this program are eligible to obtain an initial license in Educational Leadership or Reading.

Licensure in non-member states is subject to a transcript approval process. Additional course work may also be required.

A NASDTEC member may require students to pass an examination such as the praxis before they are granted a teaching license.

• Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)
Are you a practicing teacher with a Massachusetts Initial License? If you wish to pursue an additional Initial License and/or a Professional Licensure, the M.A.T. is for you.

The M.A.T. is available in Early Childhood Education . . . Educational Leadership . . . Elementary Education . . . English as a Second Language . . . Moderate Disabilities . . . and Reading.

• Master of Education (M.Ed.)
You want to teach for a living but have neither teaching experience nor do you qualify for a licensure. What you do have is a baccalaureate degree in a liberal arts field. Or, you have passed the Massachusetts Test of Educator Licensure in Communications and Literacy or an applicable content area.

The M.Ed. is ideal for you, and available in Early Childhood Education . . . Elementary Education . . . Middle School Education . . . Moderate Disabilities . . . Montessori Education . . . and Secondary Education.

• PDPs
The Graduate Education School also offers Professional Development Points (PDPs) options in many areas, including reading . . . moderate disabilities . . . and educational leadership.

PDPs provide practicing teachers a learning opportunities certification. States define PDPs differently. In general, however, one PDP hour equals one hour of training.

Gordon College is among the top Christian colleges in the nation and the only nondenominational Christian College in New England. Gordon is committed to excellence in liberal arts education, spiritual development and academic freedom informed by a framework of faith.
