Readers might be already aware of the age-old proverb - the first impression is the best impression. Does it really count? I mean most of us might have pondered at least once in their lifetimes regarding the credibility of this proverb. Well, here is a news flash to those who didn’t know – first impression does make a good impression, even during these times! Here are certain tips that will aid you in generating that first impression in others.

• When meeting someone for the first time, it is quite ordinary for people to notice the dressing. Shabby dressing will generate negative energy and negative thoughts about you will start flooding in the mind of the other person. When meeting someone for the first time, or while attending an interview, it is better to dress up decently.
• Leading a disciplined life can generate interest on others. Try to lead a disciplined life for a day or for a week, with the passage of time, you will master the situation. Punctuality is another factor that must be kept in mind. If you are scheduled to meet someone, please ensure that you allow ample allowance-time to reach the destination.
• Appear interested: Do you like it when someone does not display any sort of interest while talking with you? Why should you practice the same with others? Live for the moment. Try to engage in interesting conversations. Ask plenty of questions – but do not make it seem like you are interrogating them. Study the face of the other, and you will be able to access whether they are interested in the conversation.
• Always maintain that eye contact with the other person, while engaging in conversation. Just like studying their face, eyes are known as the mirror of the mind. This is mandatory, when you are initiating the conversation. Do not stare at the other person, but ensure that you look at them with keen and an interest. Certain people, particularly women might not like it. They might or might not let you know.
• Did you know that the body depicts a language while conversing with someone? Certain people like to have an animated conversation, while some enjoy subduing conversations. The conversation can be animated (as far as possible try to maintain in that manner) because the research has proven that people love the company of such personalities.
• Never try to interrupt a conversation. This is a major showstopper bug present in many of us. Apart from being the fact that it is rude to interrupt the conversation, it is a major turn-off for the majority. Including more people in a conversation can be fulfilling. This imparts an idea that you enjoy conversing with people. Never stick to a particular niche for a long time. Try to alter the topics at a gradual pace. Reading will aid you in this aspect. Never try to cook up any incident (whether personal or current affairs). Once they realize the truth, you are in for a bad time!
