International experts in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) converge in Manila on October 18 and 19, 2011 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel for the 10th Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR), the largest and most significant conference on CSR in Asia.

Dr. Bradley Googins, Director Emeritus, Center for Corporate Citizenship, Caroll School of Management, Boston College (USA), a leading voice in the US on the role of business in society, and Dr. Philip Mirvis, an organizational psychologist and Senior Research Fellow at the BCCCC, head a list of speakers who will talk on the state of CSR in USA, Europe and Asia.

They are joined in the presentation by Prof. David Grayson, Director of the Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility at the Cranfield School of Management, UK; Oliver Yang, CSR and Government Relations Manager at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai; and Dr. Francisco Roman, Jr. and Prof. Maya Herrera of the Asian Institute of Management.

Other experts from the academe include Dr. Mary Gentile, Director of the Giving Voice to Values curriculum at Babson College, USA; Rebecca Darr, Senior Fellow from the Aspen Institute, USA; Prof. Mario Molteni, Professor of Business Administration and Corporate Strategy at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Italy; Dr. Reevany Bustami, Chairman, CSR and Philanthropy Group, University Sains Malaysia; and Ayse Inan, Director for International Programs Exchange Office of KOC University, Turkey; among others.

CSR practitioners from the private sector and NGOs likewise lend their experiences and best practices. Among them are Catherine Coumans, Research Director of Mining Watch Canada; Clair Deevy, Community Affairs Lead for Asia of Microsoft, Australia; Alex Mavro, Executive Director of Corporate Responsibility and Ethics Association for Thai Enterprise, Thailand, Angela Joo-Hyun Kang, CEO, Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum, Korea and Dr. Ambreen Waheed, Executive Director of the Responsible Business Initiative from Pakistan.

This year’s theme, Strategic CSR: Creating Shared Value, is supported by new frameworks that embed CSR within a company’s corporate strategy in relation to the roles and responsibilities of both internal and external stakeholders to align the company CSR projects and programs with overall strategy.

Launched in Manila in 2002, AFCSR’s mission highlights innovative programs and best practices in CSR by corporations in Asia in order to promote CSR as a key strategy in addressing public needs and problems, to showcase corporate standards on CSR as strategy, and to build a network of CSR practitioners across Asia.
