The Kawasaki ninja special edition is about to hit Indian roads in early 2011.Adoringly called as “baby ninja”, this powerful and awesome bike is expected to have a price in the range of 1.5 to 2 lakhs. Kawasaki had originally introduced Kawasaki Ninja 250R as a sports bike in 1983. In the past decades it has undergone some technical changes and the fourth generation of Kawasaki ninja 250 is available in market now.
With the powerful chassis, ergonomics and engine placements makes the Kawasaki ninja 250 R fit somewhere between a standard bike and sports bike. Lately with the intention of making it more of a standard bike, Kawasaki has reduced the compression and maximum torque, so that it provides a better mid range performance. These changes has made smoother engine performance in even lower engine speeds and also made the bike easier to ride. The body design is essentially similar to that of old Kawasaki ninja bikes.
The bike is powered with a 249 cc, 4 stroke, liquid cooled, DOHC, four valve per cylinder with parallel twin engine. It has a maximum torque of 22Nm.the carburetor is KEIHIN CVK 30*2. The suspension system is marvelous with a 37mm hydraulic telescopic fork allowing 4.7 inches of travel and a rear bottom link 5-way adjustable preload Uni Trak with 5.1 inches of wheel travel. The suspension can be readjusted with the rider's weight and riding style and this makes the journey easier and comfortable even in the most difficult, jerky roads. It has an electric start and offers a compression ratio of 11.6:1.there supposed to be 6 speed gear boxes mated with the engine. Fuel requirement is regular with a fuel type of gas. The fuel tank capacity is 4.8/18.2 gal/liter. Break is hydraulic disc in the front and disc brake at the rear. Wheel base is 55.1/1399.5 in/mm.
The Kawasaki ninja 250 R is reliable and very efficient in power consumption. Ninja was brought as as an entry level bike in India in 2008 and caught the attention of many bike lovers. The new special edition is considered as another valuable addition to the 250cc bike segment.
