A grow light is an electric lamp designed to promote plant growth by emitting an electromagnetic spectrum appropriate for photosynthesis. The advantages of having LED grow lights are that they are long lasting since there isn’t a filament in it, and that they don’t become overheated when in constant use.

Grow light has acted as a major catalyst in plant growth over the years and its contribution is truly commendable. It has helped agriculture to catapult to another level. Grow light is basically an electric lamp. Their main feature is that they help plants to grow at a faster pace by emitting an electromagnetic spectrum that acts as an aid for photosynthesis.
With the help of grow light we can create a light spectrum that resembles the one from the sun. As a result of this we would be able to create an outdoor atmosphere within the four walls of our home. The equipments used to measure the color index have proved that grow lights are more or less similar to the daylight which makes it more users friendly and conducive for plant growth.
LED Grow lights have been devised recently at is highly advanced compared to the others like incandescent grow lights, fluorescent grow lights etc. LED Grow lights are comparatively less expensive and they are long lasting as well. The main catch of the LED grow lights is that they emit only the wavelengths of lights corresponding to individual plant’s photo chemical process. They are also preferred to other because of the low consumption of electricity, they produce very less heat and also they don’t require any ballast.
Because of the less heat they produce it will reduce the span of watering cycle. This happens because the plants transpire less because of the impact of LED Grow lights. The grow lights are used for several purposes like gardening, food production etc. They are used in households as well as industries in increasing food production.
The distance between the plants and the grow lights has to be appropriate and it is approximately 60-65 cm. LED Grow lights use more than one LED color to overlap the peaks. The most recent and advanced LED Grow lights might use LED’s with high-brightness and multiple-watt. They are similar to LID lamps.
Some of the other types of grow lights are High pressure sodium lamps, combination metal halide and HPL Lamps, Incandescent grow lights, Fluorescent grow lights, switch able, convertible and two way lamps. The main use of these lights is when there is unexpected variation in the climate and we don’t receive the expected or adequate sunlight required for the growth of the plants. It is also important to note that even while we use grow lights plants should not be constantly in touch with these lights. They should be given adequate darkness along with the light for the appropriate growth rate.
