Friends, today we will talk about graphing procedure of linear equation in mathematics. First of all have a brief idea of linear equations and graphing. Graphing is the procedure of drawing 2D pictorial linear shape on the plane surface. Graphing is a prior way of understanding mathematical equations in a better way with their geometrical view. Linear equation is also a polynomial form of mathematical expression which is no need to normalize further for solving because all the principles are already directly implacable on these equations.

While doing graphing of linear equations two concepts need to be kept in mind which are X and Y intercepts with slope formula. With the help of X and Y intercept the co-ordinates required to draw the graph of linear equation in respect of Cartesian axes is determined. Intercepts represent those interaction points at which the straight line or curve surface crosses the graph. In case of x intercept all the points of y in the linear equation are zero and in Y intercept conditions all the x points of equation are zero. With the help of this principle implementation the required Cartesian axes coordinates are calculated. Let us take an example for understanding the concept: X2 + y2 = 9. in case of x intercept y must be equal to zero, that means X2 = 9, X = (+3 and -3).

In case of y intercept all x points should be equal to zero, that gives Y2 = 9, Y = (+3 or -3). So, we get end points of the equation as (3,3) and (-3,-3).

After finding Cartesian coordinates the slope is calculated using the slope formula. Slope of the line is the curved angle of the straight line in respect of x- axis and it is also calculated with differentiation of ‘y’ with respect to ‘x’ which is equal to tangent. The standard formula for finding the slope of the line is given as:

M= (y2-y1)/ (x2-x1).

Here x1 is not equal to x2, because the slope of the line is a finite. Students can take help of online graphing calculator to solve the queries related to graphing of equations quickly.
