MAT 2012 – Know about some important facts

MAT is the Management Aptitude Test, conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA).
MAT is the Management Aptitude Test, conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA). AIMA is an apex body in the field of management education in India and is comprised of 30,000 individual members, 3000 institutions and 60 Local Management associations in India. Testing and other management services are taken care of by the Centre for Management Services, a special division of AIMA. Approved by the Ministry of HRD, MAT is a National Entrance Test. Candidates have a choice of taking either the Computer Based Test or the Paper Based test.

Frequency of MAT
Students can take MAT as per their convenience as it takes place four times in a year; in February, May, September and December.

The Type of Test
MAT is an objective type test that tests students of their knowledge by posing multiple-choice questions. This test is designed in a way that helps assess the general aptitude of a candidate. This test consists of following sections.
•Language Comprehension - 40 marks
•Mathematical Skills - 40 marks
•Data Analysis and Sufficiency – 40 marks
•Intelligence and Critical Reasoning - 40 marks
•Indian and Global Environment - 40 marks

Duration
Duration of the test is only 2.5 hours that is divided into all five sections.

Who is eligible to take test?
If you have obtained a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university and equivalent degree, you can qualify to take MAT. In addition, if you are a final year student pursuing any graduate degree such as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.Tech or others, you can appear in the test provisionally. However, there is minimum requirement for marks obtained in degree course and it varies for each institution.

When can you take MAT
The Paper Based Test of MAT takes place on the first Sundays of respective months namely February, May, September and December. The timing of the test is usually 10.00 to 12.30 hours. In addition, Computer Based Test takes place at every coming Saturday onwards after the respective Sunday when Paper based Test takes place.

Computer Based Test (Online): From 11 Feb 2012 onwards, different time slots at different venues
Last Date to Purchase Forms: 14 Jan 2012
Last date for submission of forms at AIMA, New Delhi: 17 Jan 2012
Last Date for Online registration: 14 January 2012
