An internal meet-me-room (MMR) is a telecom exchange pointwithin a colocation data center. When telecom companies use the space to connect incoming signals to internal equipment, they can exchange data without incurring local loop fees. Incoming Internet, data, voice, and video circuits patch into customer suites or server cages.
The meet-me-room is usually reserved for telecommunication providers' network equipment,but may also contain some customer equipment. This allows for multiplexing, which combines multiple signals to give the customer a single connection to the rest of their equipment.
