A tiny fishing village, Fuengirola is one amongst the most preferred tourist spots. Fuengirola is a village on the coast of Costa del Sol. This tiny village engaged in fishing till recently has now been transformed into a popular tourist spot. Fuengirola is now bustling with activities of trade and commerce on one side and attracting tourists on the other side; it is now one of the most popular metropolises in Spain. A great transformation indeed! Now let us go round this tiny village:

Castle:

Called the ‘Sohail castle’ and believed to have been built by Moors on the hill near the vast beach, the castle has been declared as a ‘heritage property’ by the government of Spain. According to the pages of history, the castle was under the occupation of the French Army and it was used as a military observatory unit. According to history after the French army moved out of the castle, it remained totally deserted. Now the castle has been brought to its earlier glory.

The beach:

This is one of the most beautiful beaches of Spain. The beautiful beach has Tall Mountain as its backdrop. The beach is very well maintained and the crystal clear sea water stands as testimony for it. It has facilities for water sports like surfing, boating, fishing, etc. Children have separate place for enjoying water sports.

Museum: In Spain; every city, province and even a village has one or the other museum. These museums have been so beautifully organized and indexed that they give a clear insight into the history of the place, about the civilization which lived there and such matters of interest. This is true of the museum in Fuengirola. This museum has collection of works of art believed to belong to the period of Moors. Some of the works belonging to Visigoths are on display in this museum.

Church:

This parish church is known for its most beautiful structure. The church believed to have been constructed centuries ago is visited by almost all the tourists. In so far as locals are concerned, they perform marriages, baptism, etc. in this church. It is a place of great importance for the locals. Some of the rare works of art can be found in this church.

Shopping:

Boutiques, designer clothing, hair products are from this village. Tourists are of the opinion that Fuengirola is the most ideal place for those who love shopping. Works of art, artifacts and sculptures are also available in these shops.
