If you have been suffering from heel pain, lately, then it’s about time that you paid a visit to a specialist who can treat heel pain effectively. Today you can undertake heel pain treatment and get rid of the pain quickly and without suffering too much. What’s even more interesting to note is that you can prevent the pain from returning. If treated properly, the pain goes away in a few weeks time and you can easily resume your day to day activities.
One of the basic reasons why people suffer from heel pain is plantar fasciitis. It is a condition where the tissue connecting the heel bone to the tones (plantar fascia) swells and the patient starts experiencing inflammation. Hence, a patient may experience soreness caused due to irritation, in one or both feet. However, if you choose to ignore plantar fasciitis, it can get worse with time. This problem is common between people who are over 40 years of age. However, it can affect people of all ages, especially athletes.
The most common symptoms that you may notice, if you are suffering from heel pain is that your heel will become stiff and it will pain every time you stand, run or walk. While it is intense during the morning, it reduces and you experience a dull ache towards the end of the day.
Following are some of the reasons behind plantar fasciitis:
- Over over-pronation
- Wearing worn out shoes regularly
- Wearing improper fitting shoes
- Standing, running or walking on hard surface
- Calf muscles or tight Achilles that require stretching
- High arches or due to flat feet
- If you are obese or overweight
Hence, as part of imparting treatment for heel pain, experts begin by treating the bottom of the heel and focus on reducing the tightness in the area that is affected by plantar fascia. If they are unable to reduce the tightness then the treatment does not work and the sore heel will continue to hurt. This is exactly why experts focus on providing proper support and cushion to the foot. Experienced podiatrists recommend patients to wear the right type of shoe. They also suggest walking boot that allows the foot to rest.
Some of them also suggest using anti-inflammatory medications that help in reducing pain and soreness in the heel. However, if the pain continues, then your podiatrist can give recommendation for physical therapy and even steroid injections.
