Pollution all over the surrounding has led to the contamination of water that makes it harmful to consume. As a result, several methods to purify drinking water have been invented. There are, however, both natural and artificial ways of purifying water. The natural ways of water purification are discussed here.

You can live without food for some days, but it is impossible to survive without water. When you are on your fast and you don’t eat, it is water that gives you the strength to stand and do all your tasks conveniently as do daily. But the contamination problem with this very vital nutrient has led to several problems. As a result, drinking water is essentially needed to e purified before being consumed. Because of the contamination of water, there are several health problems that are arising from time to time. Water that has always been considered as a life-saver is no more used for saving lives, but harming the same. Water purification in such a scenario is a basic need.
Water purification, in simple terms, is defined as the process where the polluted, dirty and unhealthy water is transformed into clean, harmless and healthy water. Once the contaminated water is purified, it is best for daily usage and most importantly for drinking. Consuming something directly affects the body and its functions. Thus, it becomes necessary to ensure safety before anything is taken in. Water is something that is consumed frequently by the people and hence the effects might be extremely harmful if the contaminated one is taken in. Impure water is not only unfit for drinking but also for other usages, such as, washing of clothes. It is therefore really silly to use water without going for water purification.
Several methods of water purification have been invented to clean up the contaminated water. There are both natural and artificial ways of purifying water. However, natural processes are always preferred over the artificial ones. Some of the natural methods of water purification are as follows:
Sand: you may wonder how sand can be used for purifying drinking water when it make it dirt and unclean. Passing contaminated water through sand and soil is a very effective means of purifying water, though not thought to be so. When the impure water is poured onto fine sand, the water travels down till it reaches its level of saturation. The chemical contents in the water would be held back by the sand until the pure water is extracted. This method of natural water purification is normally used in sewage treatment for the plants.
Boiling: Boiling has been known to the people as the best method of water purification since a very long time. By boiling water, the bacteria and other germs in the water are killed. This makes it healthy for consumption. Within a sealed container, the water is poured. A tube is connected to the container that is led out of it. The water turns into steam and the steam is assembled in other container through the tube. When the steam condenses, it again gets transformed into water, which is perfectly pure.
Cloth Filtration: this process of water purification is very simple and it helps in keeping the large contaminants out of the water.
The above-mentioned natural methods of purifying drinking water might appear to be casual but they lead to serious positive results. Thus, instead of being ignorant, you can apply them to get pure water for various uses.
