The Xylo is a robust SUV with humungous space and it sums up the entire needs of the customers. It is just the kind of car the big Indian family had been thirsting for. The success of the car clearly speaks volumes for itself as the car has managed to stamp its authority at a time when the Toyota Innova ruled the markets.
The engine of the car needs some opening up and then you are in for some fun. The car in spite of its heavy nature is easy to drive through the snarls and the engine is quite eager as well for some short bursts. On the long escapades the car easily clocks more than 100kmh without any fuss.
The car is a complete comfort on the inside and the hard work flows out to the exteriors as well. The occupants seem to be the top most priority for this car and could well be the next hot topic of debate at the water coolant. The grilles are quite a bite and the high stance with some muscular proportions says a lot about the car and it says the car does not care a bit about what others are saying.
The windows are quite large and allow for generous air flow and makes for some nice pan view when you are on the long journeys. The seats are a heaven to be in and the enormous leg room completely makes you forgot the world around you. Even passengers in the last row have the same royalties and everyone seems to be good mouthed about the small tweaks like the adjustable armrests, comfy seats and dedicated reading lamps.
The heaven does have some drawbacks in its set up. The suspension is quite meek and starts to shake a bit at the high revs. The body roll is clearly there and needs some quirky experience at the corners. The engine says go, but the chassis says no. The heart is willing but the makeup of the car does not allow it revel its deepest powers.
For a big car it does not have the big boot space. The third row is fixated and this clearly removes any functional space if there was one. This is a huge set back if you are looking to pack in some extra luggage into the car.
On the whole the car looks quite worth its money. The car also delivers some good numbers in terms of the mileage and then there is the pedal-to-the-metal action on the Expressway. The car easily delivers 8.7kpl in the city and manages 12.2kpl out on the highway. The Xylo is a machine for the long run and it is in this long relationship you get to know the true value of the car and its equipments. At the current price the car is surely worth your monies.
Looking at the success of the Scorpio, the Xylo too is not much far behind the race and looks like it will take some huge miracle, if any other maker even wants to come closer to the dominance of the suv segment of Mahindra.
