The Costa Ricans are commonly known as Ticos. They are very hospitable people and in general are hard working and well educated. They always sport a smile and a handshake. Many regard the Ticos to be one of the country’s greatest assets. Some of its natural wild attractions include Tortugero National Park. This is also referred to as little Amazonas. This is located on the Caribbean side. This area also boasts of Afro-Caribbean culture and the cuisine is mostly spicy and many dishes include coconut. Costa Rica is also home for volcanoes. These are a part of pacific ring of fire and Mt. Arenal is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and regularly puts up a spectacular show of smoke, ash, lava, rocks and other sounds.

The other attractions include Coco Island. This is once described as the refuge for pirates and whalers is today known for its marine wild life. They include corals, hammerhead shark, humpback whales, bottlenose dolphins and more. The biggest rain forest in Costa Rica La Armistad international park also deserves a special mention. This is the only park in the world created by 2 nations. ( Costa Rica and panama) This park boasts 400 species of birds, 263 species of amphibians and reptiles and 213 of mammals.
