Fountain Pen innovators created filling systems that gave optimum performance in their reservoir models. The first fountain pens were filled through the use of a pipette. A dropper was used to transfer ink from the bottle to the pen. However, this process has been complex and time consuming. There are three main components of a feather - the tank, the mechanism of food and the feather. The tank holds the ink, the mechanism of lines feeding the ink into the reservoir to the pen and the pens (usually gold or steel) are written.

There are two methods for filling a pen: per cartridge or self-filling. Although the use of a cartridge is convenient and less messy, self-filling holds a high esteem of cartridges.

There are two techniques that have enabled pens to be self-sufficient: The lever filler and the button filler. All charges have some success, but have introduced some concern in the area of regular maintenance. Self-filling pen drawings included filling lever, the button filler, torsion loads, load time, the filling pump, filling vacumatic, sleeve filling and filling techniques piston. Several patents have been issued for the self-filling pen designs. Here are five historical inventions of self filling in the form of drawings that the future of the pen to the world of longevity:

1. The WA Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa, he introduced in 1912. The lever fitted flush with the barrel of the pen when it was not in service.

2. Crescent Filler: Roy Conklin of Toledo the first commercially produced later called the click of filling. When two protruding tabs on the outside of the enclosure were pressed, the tabs will make a clicking sound when the bag is full.

3. Corner Filler: Matchstick type of filling using a coin was developed by Lewis Edson Waterman in an attempt to compete with the winners of the lever filler patent belonging to Sheaffer. A slot in the barrel of the pen of a coin has helped deflate the internal pressure of the plate, the same idea to the matchstick filler.

4. Matchstick Filler: introduction was estimated around 1910 by the Weidlich Company. A hole in the side of a barrel has forced the bar pressure with a match.

5. The Piston Filler: Launched to fame in 1930 when the German company Pelikan license the technology and used it in his first self-filling pen, the Pelikan 100.

Fine calligraphy is essential for anyone involved in business correspondence (clerical, bookkeeping, stenographers, musicians, etc.). The promotion of the pen manufacturing came with many successes and failures to improve the mechanisms of self-filling and prevent service interruptions. Innovation established to ensure the use and has helped to prevent messy leaks. Efficient and reliable filling systems were refined and installed in the pens to create a pleasant experience with function and style.
