The so called TVS Apache RTR180 was said to be developed and engineered in a year’s time under the name of Menace Project which became a menace to its competitors. In order to start a revolution in the world of racing, the TVS have launched its new model TVS Apache RTR180 in 2009. The Yamaha R15 is available in the exciting colors like the Impact Yellow, Midnight Black, Sunset Red and Racing Blue with a price tag of Rs 1,09,500 where as the TVS Apache RTR 180 comes in Yellow, Black, Grey and Pearl White colors with a price tag of Rs. 74,000.
It is said that there were initial speculations in Apache RTR 180 that it would give a tough competition when compared with Yamaha R15. A comparison may help the consumers buy the right bike from the clear picture that they have created from the two bike’s technicalities like engine performance, mileage and the price differences. Most of the time the consumers will go for brand name rather than its actual facts. And this biased opinion in turn leads them to choose a wrong bike. So one must go through all the specifications and compare with other latest bikes before buying it.
The comparison between Apache RTR 180 and Yamaha R15 are as follows: When we compare both the bikes according to its looks, both the bikes will easily attract the customers with its looks. TVS Apache RTR 180 has the hi-tech features and a super cool body graphics which gives it a superior look where as Yamaha R15 has a sporty model which has launched with all new colors which easily attracts the customers. When comparing both the engines, TVS Apache RTR 180 has got a 4 stroke, air cooled 177.4cc which generates a power output of 17.3 bhp at 8500 rpm and a torque of 1.5 Nm at 6500 rpm where as Yamaha R15 has a 4 stroke, liquid-cooled 149.8cc engine that generates a power of 17 bhp at 6500 rpm and a torque of 15 Nm at 7500 rpm. However, there is another major difference that is Yamaha has DiASil cylinder and the forged piston. This enables heat dissipation and reduces the power loss of engine due to excess of heat making it fuel efficient. So this unique feature makes Yamaha R15 superior to TVS Apache RTR 180.
Performance if we take, the TVS Apache 180 RTR reaches a speed limit of 60 kmph in just 4.15 seconds. It has a top speed of 125 kmph and its engine power is greater which generates a power of 17.3 bhp whereas Yamaha R15 is low powered with a speed limit of 135kmph. Mileage wise when we compare both the bikes, Yamaha R15 with its 150cc engine has a mileage of 35 kmpl to 45 kmpl whereas TVS Apache RTR 180 has a mileage of 39-44 kmpl in the city and 43-48 kmpl in the highways.
