They are a hilly, but not mountainous region, which makes them perfect for doing some hiking. Many other outdoor activities that take advantage of the beautiful scenery are operated in the Cotswolds and this includes mountain biking, horse riding, and golf. This article is going to look at some of the best Cotswolds attractions that you can find in the region.
Let's start off with walking as this is unquestionably one of the best activities you can do on a visit to the spectacular part of the country. If you want to take advantage of the Cotswolds attractions then it is best to base yourself in one of the villages in the area. Make this your base for doing some serious exploration on foot. You will find that it is a great idea to do hiking in the day and retire to your room and wonderful Cotswolds food in the evening.
For the more adventurous person then you can challenge yourself to walk between Cotswold villages during the day and stay in a different place each night. If you choose to do this, make sure that you know how far you can walk each day because you will want to reach your accommodation by nightfall. Don't worry too much though because you will easily be up to arrange road transport if you cannot reach your destination on time.
Attractions here are by no means limited to walking, and for those who prefer transport on two wheels then taking a mountain bike around the region can be a great way to explore and get some serious exercise. While the hills might not look too sheer from the distance you will find cycling up them is certainly a challenge. The advantage of exploring the Cotswolds on a bike is that you will be up to see more of the region in less time.
If you are more interested in just spending some time relaxing in the region then playing some golf can be a great idea. Golf is one of those Cotswolds attractions that is made all the better by its rolling hills and spectacular scenery and the area is full of excellent 18-hole golf courses. Plenty of the golf courses in the region are aware that many of the people who want to play are visitors, so there are very few clubs that are for members only. It is also possible to find several clubs with very reasonable charges so you won't have to spend a fortune playing here.
Cleeve Hill Golf Club is rugged and set in picturesque surrounds and is an excellent place to play a round of golf. Many excellent players call this club their home and you will be sure to have a great game. If you are looking for something a little flatter then could be a good idea to head to Hartington Golf Centre, another fantastic course.
