Traditional Hawaiian weddings incorporate a number of elements slightly different from a Western style affair. Guests arrive at the ceremony locale to traditional Hawaiian ukulele music. Only then does the bride, who wears a flowing white gown and a crown of flowers known as a haku, begin her walk down the aisle as her groom turns toward her.
The bride typically isn’t walked down the aisle by her father in Hawaiian culture. Members of the family heavily attend to the mother of the bride during the ceremony as far as traditionally Hawaiian standards.
Many other aspects of traditional Hawaiian weddings are similar to that of western culture, like an exchange of rings and a popular wedding trend called the pouring of sand, but Hawaiian culture includes an aspect where the bride and groom stand within a circle of love, exchange leis with each other, which signify eternal love, and offer a lava rock to the earth, left in the location of the ceremony.
