Avoid Ammonia Based Cleaners when Cleaning

Park in Shady Areas
Oddly enough, too much sunlight can damage a windscreen over time. Not only does it wear on an intact windscreen by simple heating, but sunlight can also increase temperature differences that will make cracks in a windshield expand or lengthen faster. Naturally sunlight isn’t possible or necessary to avoid completely, but parking in shady areas on sunny days is a good habit to get into as regards windscreen maintenance.
Wash Wipers
Wipers, both the arms and the blades, should be washed along with the windscreen itself. Dirt particles and pebbles in the wipers can scrape the windshield and impact visibility and the integrity of the glass.
Replace Wiper Blades and Arms
Replacing windscreen wiper blades often is a good idea. They are inexpensive and very easy to install. It used to be necessary to replace blades at least once a season. Though now longer life blades have been developed that only need to be replaced annually, replacing them once a season is still a good practice.
Avoid Slamming Doors
Hard and frequent door slamming rattles the windshield and can lead to dings and cracks. This can also speed up the expansion of cracks if they are already present. Try to shut doors with more moderate force as this can help safeguard the integrity of the windshield.
