Erasers that are used to remove pencil marking are known as pencil erasers.
Raw materials Used:
Most commonly used raw materials are rubber which can be natural or synthetic. Ordinary synthetic rubber is the resultant from the chemicals styrene and butadiene. Other raw materials add is pigment to change color. Another important ingredient is sulfur, which allows rubber to be vulcanized. Vegetable oil is added to make the rubber softer and easier to shape. Natural mineral pumice is also used to makes the eraser more rough.
How do pencil erasers work?
The erasers have tiny sticky particles than the paper, so when the eraser is rubbed onto the mark, the graphite sticks to the eraser rather than over the paper.
Types of pencil erasers:
Art gum: They are specially made to removing large areas, and do not spoil the paper. They are made of soft, coarse rubber. They are many used by artists. They have a broad brush to sweep away the loose eraser residue.
Kneaded Eraser: It is usually made of a grey or white flexible material. It functions by absorbing and picking up graphite and charcoal particles. They will not leave behind eraser residue and thus it lasts much longer than any other erasers. They are mostly preferred for used for precision erasing or for detailing work.
Electric Eraser: They are most popular among professional artists, designers, and those in the creative industry. It is basically a knob of eraser in the form of a short, thin rod fixed to a mini motor. There's a switch on one side to turn it on when you once press it, and off it when pressure is released from the switch. When the knob is fixed to a mini motor, it turns comparative fast when the device is on. It designed for is erasing pencil mark in a very short time.

There are mainly two kinds of ink erasers:
Chemical ink eraser: These are most commonly used ink. They work by actually eliminate or changing the quality of the ink on the paper, leaving the paper unspoiled.
Abrasive ink eraser: They rub away the ink in the paper. This must be done with great care to produce good result. In earlier times, abrasive ink erasers were made of sharp metal pieces.
How They Work:
Ink erasers are filled with a chemical substance that reacts with the ink in erasable pens. These chemicals used in the ink erasers change the chemical compound of the ink, either removing it from the paper or making the ink appear white.
The Future:
Development in eraser technology mainly in the way rubber is produced. Latest chemical formulas are constantly being developed to produce synthetic rubber efficient.
