They also offered white as an alternative to black, but this proved to be an enormous challenge for Apple, because it tends to yellow and it also interferes with the phone's internal censors. That problem took nearly 10 months to overcome. One very welcome introduction that came along with the iPhone4S was the ability to increase the warranty from 90 days to two years via AppleCare which also offers extended tech support. The $49 fee also covers accidental damage to the phone - you can beat it up twice but no more for that $49, after that your carelessness will mean shelling out another $400 for a new phone, but the AppleCare option is a vast improvement on the original iPhone warranty. If you've replaced your iPhone with an iPhone4S, or another device that you'll no longer have a use for - or you're staring at your third replacement that's in pieces in your hand, please be sure to recycle whatever device you are replacing responsibly. Millions of cell phones are being thrown into trash cans and this is extremely hazardous to the environment. If your old phone is still in good condition, you can sell it online - you may be surprised at how much it's worth. It may be enough to pay your new iPhone4S bill for the next couple of months.
