If you're planning on taking yoga, I would suggest a chat with your yoga teacher before you proceed, especially if you have never taken yoga before. Each yoga course is different, and your trainer should be able to tell you exactly what to buy for their particular class.
If you're planning on taking yoga, I would suggest a chat with your yoga teacher before you proceed, especially if you have never taken yoga before. Each yoga course is different, and your trainer should be able to tell you exactly what to buy for their particular class.

Your yoga trainer is sure to tell you to shop for a yoga mat. But the type of mat may be an issue. Original yoga mats are the preference of many die-hard yoga teachers, so be equipped for that. Various other trainers prefer new mats because they have more support and are much more comfortable for the students. Knowing which yoga mat you’ll need in advance is a lifesaver.

And then there is the matter of outfits. Yoga trainer can be very stringent on the dress code. You can find particular yoga outfits you could buy, but most trainers simply tell you to wear something loose-fitting and comfortable… or at a minimum something that stretches.

Books and DVDs may also be recommended by your yoga instructor. These tools are an easy way to train throughout the week, and they also allow each student to work at her or his own pace. While not all teachers recommend these items for the class, if you need outside assistance you can ask your teacher to recommend one for you.

Again, every yoga class is different. Each teacher is different as well and can call for different items. Wow, that's a great deal of different! That is why it's essential to communicate with your instructor in advance. If you wish to purchase all or none of your teachers recommendations, that's at your discretion. Just remember that you might be asked to leave the class and join a different one if the teacher's requirements aren't met.
