It comes with a 3.7 inch touch screen, the Sense UI 3.5, a 5 megapixel camera, and a 1 GHz Scorpion single-core processor Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset. It is powered by the Android operating system version 2.3 Gingerbread. However, Google has just announced the Android version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This is the latest iteration of Android. Since the latest version of the software has now been launched, you must be wondering if the update will be rolling out to the Taiwanese phone giant's handset.
On HTC's official Facebook page, the company has announced that several of its smartphones would be getting the update early in 2012. These are the Sensation, the Sensation XE, the Sensation XL, and the EVO 3D. It makes perfect sense for the Taiwan-based phone maker to issue the Ice Cream Sandwich update to these handsets first. After all, these are the company's top of the line Android phones. However, what about the HTC Rhyme? Will it ever get the most up to date software version?
The Taiwan-based company is known for doing their best to roll out the latest updates to their phones. Although they have not officially announced the update for this smartphone, we're sure they are working on it as fast as they can. They have announced that they are taking a closer look at the update. After all the testing has been accomplished, they will no doubt roll out the update to the HTC Rhyme.
Since Android Manufacturers add their custom UIs on top of the Android OS, they will have to test if Android's updates are compatible with these UIs. HTC's Sense UI is no exception. They will have to test the Ice Cream Sandwich update on Sense. Although it might not roll out as early as you would like, it is likely to roll out to the handset sometime in 2012. You might have to wait a few weeks or even a few months after it roils out to the company's high-end handsets.
Although it's possible you might have wait a little longer, take solace in the fact that the Ice Cream Sandwich update will eventually roll out to the HTC Rhyme. We're sure the Taiwanese phone giant will release an official announcement soon.
