Every now and then, automobile industry is coming up newer concepts and producing new means of transportation. Cars, Buses, Electric Trams and many other ways of transportation have been developed. Every day with the discovery of new faster, safer, trendy and effective vehicles, the ever-increasing demand for the new means of transportation has been properly taken care of.
With the increasing demand in the production of the automobiles, a major concern which has emerged is of environmental pollution resulting from the direct gaseous emissions as well as from the indirect impacts resulting from the procedures employed in the production units. With the limited supply of the fossil fuels on the earth, the dependence on these ought to be curtailed for the sake of our next generations. Vehicles with improved efficiency and less independence on the fossil fuels are the need of the hour.
Newer and more efficient industrial procedures are being employed to reduce the indirect environmental pollution effect as well. To cater to these objectives, there are hybrid automobiles in the market that promise better performance and low environmental impact.
Biofuels are also gaining popularity as an alternate fuel. Solar powered automobiles and the hybrids in this context are also the ones which are not only going to reduce the dependence on the fossil fuels but also have the potential to make use of the immense and freely available source given by the nature to man, that is the solar energy. Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology is the latest and one of the most promising technologies of the future. A lot of progress on this front is already underway.
The prototypes have been developed with desirable results. However, as is the case with all the evolving technologies, it has its share of the problems. It however has the potential of meeting the future needs of energy not only of the automotives but other sectors as well. It is supposed to be a contender of the least polluting technology.
