RIM has released a number of new handsets this 2011. Although most of them sport the same design just like their predecessors, they come packed with serious hardware and software that was not available in the past. An example is the Bold 9900. This handset sports the same QWERTY below the display just like its predecessor the 9780. There is one exception to these new releases. This is the Blackberry Torch 9860. Unlike most of RIM's smartphones, this new phone sports a design that goes beyond the ordinary. It sports a purely touch screen interface.

Blackberry's enthusiasts are drawn in to the QWERTY keyboards on RIM's handsets. This allows users to type with ease. These phones are ideal when responding to emails, replying to text messages, and chatting on the BBM. If are one of the people who have grown accustomed to this functionality. Then the Bold 9900 is for you.

Right below the 9900's 2.8 inch display sits a physical QWERTY keyboard. This will allow users to easily access the keyboard when needed. This is a feature the Canadian phone manufacturer has equipped its mobile phones for years. This is one of the reasons why a number of people prefer Research In Motion's handsets over the more powerful iOS-powered iPhone 4S and Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

If you are a RIM fan but would want to try something new, you might find the Blackberry 9860 interesting. The phone sports a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive touch screen that was not available in past models. This will give you enough room to enjoy more from a touch interface. No QWERTY keyboard can be found here.

Since the phone does not come with a physical keyboard, you may be wondering if you will still be allowed to enjoy from features the company is known for such as the BBM. You'll be happy to know that the phone comes with a virtual keyboard patterned just like the physical input methods on other RIM handsets. This will allow you to type, reply, respond, and chat just like before. Furthermore, the handset comes with an optical track pad that offers another method of navigating through the phone's features.

Research In Motion now offers two different smartphones depending on your preferences. If you're looking for a phone that will allow you to enjoy from the company's conventional design, the Bold 9900 is for you. If you are looking for a phone that offers a purely touch interface, the Blackberry Torch 9860 is for you. Now that you know more about the two handsets, will you go for a touch screen or QWERTY?
