If you are looking for a unique plant to have in your home or garden then a bonsai could well be the choice for you. There are lots of different types of indoor and outdoor bonsai that you can grow, all of which have different appearances and need looking after in different ways.

When it comes to choosing the type of bonsai that you would like, there is plenty to choose from. One of the easiest to look after is the Chinese Elm for indoor or you could choose a Maple Bonsai for outdoor both of which are reasonably trouble free.

However if you want a bonsai that is a little different then you may want to look at the Azaleas or Crab Apple Bonsai. Before you decide on the bonsai that you want in your garden or home it is important to look at the conditions in which it will live in and how much care you will be able to give it. For example if you choose a Maple Bonsai you’ll need a wind sheltered area to avoid damage to the delicate leaves.

Care requirement s for individual bonsai vary, but in general, water regularly, sometime more than once a day, prune at the correct time of year, re-potting every few years and feeding on a regular pattern with a well-balanced fertiliser

You should also bear in mind that throughout the winter months it is likely that you’ll need to provide some protection from the elements, even if you can provide a little respite from the rain, the tree will benefit greatly. Indoor trees will keep growing all year, so bear this in mind and don’t forget to water!

Don’t worry if you are not sure how to effectively look after bonsai plants from the beginning, because many of them do not require much attention at all, and the care requirements are easy to learn. The nursery that you buy your bonsai plant from should be able to give advice regarding what is needed. However if they are unable to help them look online for help and advice, because there are plenty of websites that contain the information you need.
