One of the most common terms that people get to hear regarding the treatments in the rehab centers is the detox program. It is considered as the most important mode of treatment for any kind of addiction, whether it be drug addiction or alcohol addiction. As from the name we can understand that it is a type of treatment regarding detoxification. In this process, all the toxic drug or alcohol particles are eliminated from the body of the addicted patient by certain methods. Both the drug detox and alcohol detox programs are difficult and complicated, but useful. The detoxification program is the first treatment attempted in any rehab center and this treatment procedure does the magic. This detoxification program covers almost the total part of the drug addiction treatment process. Each and every drug addiction treatment center performs this process. With the completion of this treatment process, the medicinal treatment part is almost done.
When the detoxification program ends, the withdrawal effects of drugs or alcohol show up. In the detoxification process, all the toxic particles of drugs or alcohol are eliminated, due to which the drug addicted patient’s mind and body craves for the addiction drugs. And when they do not get their drugs, the withdrawal effects rise up at a large extent. These withdrawal effects of drugs or alcohol are so grueling that the addicted patients can barely cope up with it. It has also been seen that many such patients have run away from the rehabs, when they were unable to tolerate the pain anymore. Some even decide to end their life in such situations. The withdrawal effects turns the patients restless and sometimes these patients go wild to a level of madness. Several other physical and mental side-effects show up at this time. The only option left is such situation is providing immense care and mental support to the drug addicted patients.
No medicinal treatment can help the patients in such situations; proper care, comfort and mental support are the main key to success when such situation arises. Most rehab centers fail at this time; as they fail to provide the required care and comfort. Proper care, comfort and mental support are provided only by the highly trained and compassionate medical staffs of a rehab center. Each of these three criteria are essential to help the drug addicted patients recover from such situations. Only these can help the patients fight with the pain of the withdrawal effects and overcome the pain. Comfort is a very important tool; it helps the patients a lot to calm down and sooth their mind and body. The mental support provided by the medical staffs also comprises of a very important part in such situations.
We can see from this that only medicinal treatment is not the answer to drug addiction. Care, comfort and mental support hold the exactly same responsibility. Just as the detoxification program constitutes the main part of the medicinal treatment, the care, comfort and mental support constitutes the later part. The rehab centers which provide all of these facilities succeed in curing the addicted patients completely.
