The film chronicles the life of Veronica “Ronnie” Miller, who is seventeen and has all the characteristics of a normal teenager. She is a piano child prodigy and has been accepted into the Julliard School. But she refuses to do so and is forced to visit her estranged father over the summer holidays in Georgia. Her father, Steve, is a former professor of Julliard School and was a concert pianist. She falls in love with Will Blakelee, the popular jock of the town. They connect over the saving of a nest of endangered Loggerhead sea turtles. Ronnie realizes there is more to Will than meets the eye. She also reconnects with her father through their common love – music.
The film stars Miley Cyrus as Ronnie and Greg Kinnear as her father Steve. It also stars Kelly Preston and Liam Hemsworth as Ronnie’s mother and Will respectively. It is the directorial debut of Julie Anne Robinson. It has been adapted from a novel with the same name by the famous author, Nicholas Sparks, who has also written the screenplay along with Jeff Van Wie. The movie has been rated PG for its content.
