When Superchips announced a performance boosting ECU remap for the Audi A1, I was a bit gutted, as I have an Audi A3 in Scotland. I would have been really happy if the ECU remap was for the Audi A3, so I guess I just have to wait for my car’s turn.

Even though it’s not for my car, I decided to find out about it, as it is very interesting to know how much the Audi A1 has been improved and what to expect if ever it’s done for the Audi A3. The ECU remap was tested both in real world driving conditions and on Superchips' in-house chassis dynometer.

The Audi A1 1.4 TFSI Sport ECU provides a maximum power boost of 26bhp at 6168rpm with increases from 2000rpm throughout the rev range, up to the 6500rpm rev limit. Torque is increased by 28NM at 1917rpm alongside an increase between 1500 - 6500 rpm, providing more flexibility from the engine, suitable for everyday use around town and on the open road. With the ECU remap, the fuel economy of the Audi A1 remains uncompromised.

The Superchips ECU remap is suitable for both six speed manual and seven speed semi-automatic S-Tronic variants of the 120bhp Audi A1 produced from May 2011 onwards, and is priced at just £455. The ECU remap requires installation by trained technicians at one of 80 Superchips performance centres. The conversion is covered by a full Customer Service Guarantee and a 12 month / 30,000 supplementary full vehicle warranty.
