Following certain safety and precautionary tips can help in reducing the risk of genital warts. Here are some tips to reduce the risk of genital warts.
The raising awareness towards the safety measures to prevent the risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) has encouraged people to use condoms while indulging in sex. In addition to this, there are lots of other ways to belittle the risk of STDs such as genital warts for a worry-free life. Below are some of the tips to be a responsible and safe lover:
Tip 1:Have single sexual partner
Often referred to as ‘monogamy,’ it is about having one sexual partner irrespective of marriage or reproduction. Having sex with a single partner reduces the risk of transmitting STD-causing viruses from an infected person to other.
Tip 2: Get regular health check-ups, both for you and your partner
Routine health tests can help in keeping track of sexual as well as general health and minimize the risk of infection. Therefore, it is essential that before getting into a long-term relationship such as marriage, you and your partner should get a test done for genital warts.
Tip 3: Use condoms for protection
Though it doesn’t require you to be a hotshot to learn how to wear condoms, being in a rush to indulge in sex can make things go wrong. So, it is important to learn how to properly wear a sheath for a better protection from STDs. Do not forget to throw away used sheaths.
Tip 4: Use water-based lubricants while having anal sex
The risk of STIs and STDs increases while having anal sex as it can damage the rectum. Using latex, polyurethane, or polyisoprene condoms with water-based lubricants are considered as safe.
Tip 5: Women can use female condoms to significantly reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections.
Tip 6: Women, who are looking for an effective genital warts cure, can go for immunisation. Gardasil is the vaccine approved to protect women against 90% of genital warts cases, 70% of cervical cancer cases, and other types of HPV (human papillomavirus) infections.
Genital warts treatment and management
Genital warts treatment is aimed at destruction and elimination of the warts rather than killing the virus. It is due to the dormant nature of HPV that no treatment can help in its eradication. Topical treatment and physical ablation are the two main treatments for genital warts. The former includes use of creams, lotions, or chemicals to be applied directly to the warts, whereas the latter uses laser or electricity to destroy the tissues of the warts. Different people respond differently to various genital warts treatment. For instance, one treatment can prove to be effective at treating one person’s symptoms, but fail to effectively treat someone else’s. If the warts are hard and rough, physical ablation is considered as best to eliminate them. But when they are comparatively soft, topical treatments tend to work better. However, sometimes a combination of both treatments is considered to be used for better results. In some cases, excision is recommended to treat hardened, small warts, especially where there is a combination of smaller warts that have joined together to form a sort of cauliflower shape.
