Every so often my dear wife and I travel down or east to Europe and visit places of all kinds, including Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
Here is another of my experiences with international flags and European flagpoles. Every so often my dear wife and I travel down or east to Europe and visit places of all kinds, including Belgium, France and the Netherlands. My family lives in the western part of the Netherlands, not all that far from the city of Rotterdam, which in fact is situated closely to the cities of Delft and The Hague.

Many a people have traveled to Holland or the Netherlands for different purposes, including business and vacations. Holland is one of many different countries or states in Western Europe. As of late Europe has been in the news because of various serious debt problems. The Euro is said to be in danger. Who knows, the folks in this country might decide to switch back to their original currency, which was the Guilder for years.

The tricolor's flag-proportions have been the same for years and are two the three. This tricolor features three different colors: blue, red and the color white. Like other ensigns and tricolors of different countries, the Dutch tricolor has existing variants that are hoisted on Dutch flag poles, at times, throughout the nation. As usual, the applied colors are different, and so is the general design of the variants.

The capital city of this wonderful land of windmills, tulips and beautiful girls is Amsterdam, even though the government-seat is the city of The Hague. There are a number of airports that handle local, regional and international traffic. Schiphol Airport is the biggest airport in the country, and is located south of the city of Amsterdam. The national airline is KLM, which is short for (in English) Royal Airline Company. They have in business for years, if not decades and fly to destinations of all kinds, including a variety in the United States.

During the years I lived in Zuid-Holland, and especially during the celebration the queen's birthday, we flew the Dutch from objects of all kinds! I recall our visit to Amsterdam and the incredible number of people visiting the capital for purposes of celebration really. The Dutch ensign was hoisted on Dutch flag poles all over the place. No doubt there was a sensation of patriotism, which the Dutch are known to have during events of all kinds, including soccer.

Every so often the national flag of Luxembourg and the one of the kingdom of the Netherlands are hoisted on flag poles simultaneously. Confusion often is exclaimed because the two are so similar in their design. The same also applies to the use of colors. The difference between to the two ensigns is the color blue. The blue horizontal stripe on the Dutch flag is darker in tone.
