Luckily, there is one way you can make your home more secure that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Simply purchase stickers and signs that state you have an alarm system installed even if you don’t.
Many homeowners these days would love to be able to afford a home security system that includes at least door sensors, a main control panel and a loud siren. However, with the economy the way it is, this is not a reality for many people. In fact, many people are sacrificing their security and the safety of the families because they have to spend money on food or rent instead. This is an unfortunate situation because everyone deserves to feel safe in his or her home.

Luckily, there is one way you can make your home more secure that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Simply purchase stickers and signs that state you have an alarm system installed even if you don’t. This might seem like such a simple idea that it cannot possibly work; however, you would be surprised that this one basic move makes homes three times less likely to be targeted for a burglary.

Think about it for a minute. If you were a burglar, would you rather target a home that appears to have an alarm system installed or one that does not? If you are like most thieves, you would take your chances with the house that does not appear to be equipped with a home security system. Even if a burglar thinks the signs and window stickers are bogus, they are probably not going to take a risk and break in, particularly when there are most likely several other houses in the vicinity that are not protected in this way.

While it is best to try to get your hands on stickers and signs from actual home security companies, you can actually use any advertisements at all. Just get ones that have a realistic-sounding name and a telephone number, even if it’s not a real number, and your home will instantly be more secure than it was before you posted the signs. Most of the time, these signs and stickers are inexpensive, but their impact is huge.

If you want to take your false security system one step further, you can purchase cheap, yet realistic, surveillance cameras that you can post at a couple visible points around your home. Burglars will not take the time to determine whether or not these cameras are actually recording, and because they look exactly like the real ones, most criminals will not risk breaking in.

Security systems can cost a small fortune, which is money you might not have. Fortunately, by posting fake security system signs and mounting fake surveillance cameras, you can have at least some of the benefits of an actual security system without the high cost.
