Future Prospects are high after a Graduation from Marine Engineering Colleges

Marine engineers are skilled in the manufacture, design and the methodologies applied for executing operations of machinery items in ships. BITSAT and TMISAT are the two entrance exams out of which a student has to qualify in any one to take admission for a four year B. S. Marine Engineering course. Academic qualification includes minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII. Besides, a student should also qualify a medical test that will be followed by a personal interview before taking admission for B. S. Marine Engineering course.

Another esteemed institute for pursuing a Bachelors degree in marine engineering is Vels Academy of Maritime Studies is situated at Pallavaram, Chennai. This academy is located about three kilometers from Chennai International and Domestic Airport with excellent infrastructure. Vels Academy of Maritime Studies is one of the foremost institution in South India to be conferred an ISO 9001:2000 certification by Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance, London. Apart from the basic academic qualification, a medical test is conducted by this academy before allowing the students to take admission for a B.E. in marine engineering. Students should not be suffering from color blindness, with a minimum clear vision of 6/12 in each eye besides being physically fit for the sea services.

Any interested student can be a part of the majestic Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research (MAEER) by taking admission in Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education and Training (MANET). This academy is located in Pune which also falls in the MIT's Group of Institutions. The four-year marine engineering course in MANET is recognized by the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nasik. Apart from these, the course content is also approved by the D. G. Shipping, Ministry of Shipping Government of India. Admission procedure includes fulfillment of the rules for physical fitness as per Directorate General of Shipping's Fitness Requirements for Sea Service besides MANET Entrance Test Score Merit List.

Institute of Technology & Marine Engineering (ITME) is also one of the recognized marine engineering colleges in India. This institution is located in Kolkatta, West Bengal and its infrastructure includes well equipped laboratories, hostel, gymnasium and library. This college provides a four year B.Tech degree in marine engineering. For seeking admission in this renowned institute a student has to qualify the entrance tests like WBJEE or AIEEE.
